Zion Square Redesign, Jerusalem

Urban development competition 2nd stage finalist, 2016

Along with other goals, the competition was aimed at commemorating Shira Banki, a teenage girl murdered by an extreme orthodox during a gay pride parade near this historically charged square in the very heart of the city center. Conceived as a disconnected necklace, the circular, sculptural structure clearly defines the irregular space and introduces scale to it, providing seating, shading and illumination, as well as an audio-visual infrastructure for its vibrant happenings.
