Housing Extension, Jerusalem
Housing Extension, Jerusalem
Feasibility Study and Schematic Design, 2011
This scheme turns the single-level flats in the unassuming, 1960's housing blocks into double-level duplexes, utilizing a partially open, ground service floor to extend the lower flats, while adding a floor on the roof as an extension for the upper flats. For these flats, generous roof terraces are also introduced, compensating for the rear gardens which were originally shared property but were taken over through the years by the adjoining ground flats, thereby reconstituting the lost principle of equality.
