National Library, Jerusalem

International competition Honorary Mention, 2012

Inspired by the existing National Library building standing within the nearby Hebrew University campus – a sort of enlarged Villa Savoye built in the 1960's – the project lets the landscape sweep through, gently sloping and terracing along the continuous ground floor. Influenced also by the adjacent Israel Museum, the varying modular strips follow an open-edged syntax, creating a built field rather than an object.
