Rather than tearing down the less prominent buildings on site in order to make place for a totally new wing – as encouraged by the brief, the project encloses the entire plot with a light, minimal, steel and glass structure, creating an open, bright, interior-exterior urban room – ideally suited for the Scandinavian climate and for integrating library activities with the lively urban energy.
