With the motto On the Shoulders of Giants, the project's peripheral facade consists of right-angled triangles of varying sizes and hues, standing one on top of the other, referring to the museum's subtitle, "museum of the past and of the future". These tiptoeing triangles raise the building above the recurring floods expected on the site, as required by the brief. Simultaneously, the openings they create recall sailing ships that once traveled these seas, while framing unique views from within.
