Following a new programme by the municipality, the previously mixed-uses plot in the heart of the neighborhood was replanned, designated now for a cultural center.

Owing to the fact that the plot stayed vacant for many years and became an informal, communal gathering place, the design startegy was to leave it as open as possible, to lower the mass by utilizing the underground for much of the auditorium volume, and to plan the roof as new, accessible ground.
