With the motto On the Shoulders of Giants, the project's peripheral facade consisting of right-angled traingles standing one on top of the other refers to the museum's subtitle as "musueum of the past and of the future".
Structurally, the tiptoeing triangles raise the building against flooding as required by the brief.
Simultaneously, the openings between the triangles recall sailships that once travelled the seas from this harbor, while also framing unique views from within outwards.
